FACTS:
Following on from the huge success of the Viper Recordings album ‘Acts Of Mad Men’ (Zane Lowe’s Album of The Week plus full specialist support across Radio 1, 1X, Kiss, XFM and NME ), 2010 saw the Acts first major release, the ‘Halo E.P’ which received multiple plays from every specialist national and regional show in the UK, to ear mark DC Breaks as the hottest emerging talent in the scene with the capacity to cross over…
This debut EP marked an important milestone in the duo’s career. It all started with Andy C’s Ram Records in 2005, signing several tracks to Frequency Recordings this steady stream of releases help cement the acts profile as both premiere league DJs and tagged them back then as future leaders of the scene. 2009 blessed us with the release of ‘Pickett Line’, which received swathes of Radio One support across the specialists with Pete Tong citing it as ’One of my favourite Drum & Bass tunes of the year’ – ‘Flashback’ then picked up the gauntlet and settled into the Radio One ‘Hottest Records’ Podcast for the entire Summer of 2009. Forward to 2010 and the year was kicked off in fine style with an interview and guest mix feature for BBC 1Xtra’s MistaJam – calling them ‘the Hottest Production team out there right Now’
DC Breaks (Dan Havers and Chris Page) epitomize the current sound of Drum+Bass which has seen a real resurgence in support for the genre both at club and particularly at Radio. Scene leaders with their dynamic and unique sound, dropping anthemic basslines on dancefloors from London to LA. DC Breaks are well renowned for bringing vocals alive in a mostly instrumental scene as their own productions and VIP reworks have proven, and its this reason why this Acts appeal goes far beyond just the D+B scene.
The numerous releases for Viper and Frequency have meant DC Breaks are hotly in demand as remixers too. Recent mixes have included artists such as Tinie Tempah (mixing the No1 single ‘Pass Out’ Paloma Faith, Example and ROX – all once again giving them consistent support at National and regional radio here in the UK. The next chapter is about to unfold as they switch up the tempo and bring the DC touch to JLS.
The duo have also spent years crafting their unique live performance in clubs and festivals around the world, DJ-ing across 6 decks and two mixers, and as a result they are rapidly becoming one of the most exciting acts in Drum n Bass. Returning again this year to Glastonbury for their now legendary tear up.
With an Album all ready under production and a wealth of vocal talent joining the writing process, this Act should definitely be on your radar!
